Why folk dance?

The aim of the folk dance is to maintain the tradition and habits of our Bosniak identity. Folk costume and folk dance are the tradition of our people for many years and in this way it is intended to develop the feeling for the homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina in our younger population.

Besides maintaining and remembering Bosnia, the aim is to bring together the youth to spend time in our facilities, to offer an alternative to today’s temptations that the younger generations are facing. The folk dance ensemble (FDE) Zlatni Ljiljani from Portland was founded fifteen years ago.

Many generations have passed trough the FDE and represented our IBECO organization with much success. The FDE is successfully managed by the choreographer Mevludin Salkanovic. FDE Zlatni Ljiljani has participated on many events throughout America and Canada especially on Meeting of Bsniaks of North Americaon which they participate regularly.
